Rolling Loud India Makes Historic Debut in Mumbai: Wiz Khalifa, Don Toliver, Central Cee, and Karan Aujla Lead a Star-Studded Hip-Hop Lineup

Donovan CarterDonovan CarterSeptember 8, 20254 Minutes read

Mumbai is set to become the epicenter of global hip-hop as the highly anticipated debut of Rolling Loud India unfolds on November 22 and 23. The two-day music festival will take place at Loud Park in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, marking a significant milestone for the genre in the country. Headlining the inaugural event are international titans Wiz Khalifa, Don Toliver, and Central Cee, alongside the celebrated Indian artist Karan Aujla, who makes history as the first Indian artist to headline an international Rolling Loud festival. This debut signifies a major expansion for the world-renowned hip-hop festival brand, bringing its signature blend of top-tier talent and vibrant culture to India for the first time.

Rolling Loud: A Global Hip-Hop Powerhouse Arrives in India

Founded in Miami in 2015 by Matt Zingler and Tariq Cherif, Rolling Loud has rapidly evolved from a regional event into the largest hip-hop festival globally. Known for its diverse lineups that often feature emerging artists before their rise to superstardom, Rolling Loud has become synonymous with authentic hip-hop culture. The festival has successfully expanded its footprint across continents, hosting editions in cities like Los Angeles, New York, Toronto, Lisbon, and Bangkok. India, with its burgeoning and dynamic hip-hop scene, represents the latest frontier for the festival, a move that organizers state has been a goal for years. The decision to bring Rolling Loud to Mumbai reflects the global appeal and increasing influence of Indian hip-hop.

A Historic Headliner Lineup Bridges Worlds

The lineup for Rolling Loud India is a carefully curated blend of global icons and powerful local voices. Day one, November 22, will be headlined by UK rap sensation Central Cee, known for his chart-topping hits, and the legendary Pittsburgh rapper Wiz Khalifa, whose extensive catalog includes anthems like “Black and Yellow” and “See You Again”.

Day two, November 23, features a landmark performance by Punjabi superstar Karan Aujla, marking the first time an artist from the host country will lead the bill at an international Rolling Loud event. Alongside Aujla, Houston rapper Don Toliver will bring his unique sound and hits like “No Idea” and “After Party” to the Indian stage. Adding significant weight to the festival’s appeal is DIVINE, a pioneering Indian MC and the first Indian artist signed to Nas’ Mass Appeal, who will deliver a special performance, including his upcoming album ‘Walking on Water’ live for the first time.

A Diverse Showcase of Global and Local Talent

Beyond the headliners, Rolling Loud India’s debut lineup boasts an impressive array of international and homegrown artists. Attendees can expect performances from established hip-hop heavyweights such as Denzel Curry, NAV, Ski Mask The Slump God, Westside Gunn, DaBaby, and Swae Lee. The festival also prominently features the growing diasporic hip-hop movement, with artists like Gurinder Gill and AR Paisley set to perform.

Significantly, the festival has made a concerted effort to highlight India’s own vibrant music scene. Alongside Aujla, DIVINE, and Hanumankind—who has previously graced a Rolling Loud stage in Thailand—the lineup includes a wide spectrum of Indian talent such as Tamil rapper Arivu, Marathi rapper Sambata, Meba Ofilia, Shreyas, and collectives like Wild Wild Women. This inclusion of nearly half Indian artists underscores Rolling Loud’s commitment to celebrating the local scene and offering a platform for its artists on a global scale.

The Venue and Festival Experience

Rolling Loud India is set to transform Loud Park in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, into a hub of musical energy. The venue’s strategic location, with easy access via the Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1, ensures convenience for fans traveling from across the city. Rolling Loud’s expansion into India is produced in partnership with District by Zomato, which also serves as the exclusive ticket seller.

The festival promises more than just music; it aims to offer an immersive experience celebrating hip-hop culture. Attendees can anticipate local food and drink vendors, art installations, and experiential activations that delve into the various elements of global and Indian hip-hop. This holistic approach aims to foster community and provide a memorable cultural exchange.

A Landmark Moment for Indian Hip-Hop

The arrival of Rolling Loud in India is being hailed as a cultural shift and a testament to the country’s rapidly expanding music industry. For years, Indian hip-hop fans have followed international festivals from afar, and this debut marks a significant step towards integrating India into the global music calendar. The festival’s organizers, Matt Zingler and Tariq Cherif, have expressed their excitement, stating, “The hip-hop scene in India has been booming, and bringing the festival to Mumbai felt like the right decision.”. Rahul Ganjoo, CEO of District by Zomato, added that the festival is “a loud, undeniable signal that Indian hip-hop is here, it’s global, and it’s got something to say”. As the music news unfolds, Rolling Loud India is poised to be an unforgettable celebration of hip-hop’s power to connect cultures.
