HT City Friday Jam Ignites Season 10 in Gurugram with Lashcurry’s Dynamic Hip-Hop Showcase

Marcus KingMarcus KingSeptember 7, 20253 Minutes read

Gurugram, India – The vibrant energy of Delhi-NCR’s Friday nights was amplified as the 10th season of the HT City Friday Jam officially kicked off at the DLF CyberHub amphitheater. Undeterred by the monsoon season, the inaugural event delivered a powerful start, featuring a stellar performance by hip-hop artist Lashcurry and setting a high bar for the month-long music festival. The evening successfully blended local talent with a celebrated headliner, drawing a significant crowd eager to embrace the return of this popular urban music series.

Lashcurry Takes Center Stage with Energetic Hip-Hop Beats

The spotlight of the opening night shone brightly on Vinayak Lashkari, widely known as Lashcurry. Hailing from Indore, the 21-year-old rapper, who recently triumphed as the winner of MTV Hustle 4, brought his signature style and infectious energy to the Gurugram audience. Lashcurry captivated the crowd with a setlist featuring his chart-topper “Badi Baat Chit Industry Ke Logon Se,” the crowd-pleasing “Lashcurry Hai Kya,” and the introspective “Gareeb Shayari.” His performance was marked by sharp lyricism, social commentary, and an authentic connection with his fans, who enthusiastically rapped along to his tracks. Lashcurry expressed his gratitude, noting the overwhelming love from the Gurugram audience felt akin to performing in his hometown. His journey from playing the tabla in his youth to becoming a prominent voice in the Indian hip-hop scene underscores his dedication and evolving artistry.

The Confidants Kick Off the Evening with Local Flair

Opening the festival were the Gurugram-based home-grown band, The Confidants. Their performance set an engaging tone for the evening, drawing appreciation from the local crowd. Lead vocalist Jude Corneille remarked on the special feeling of performing in their own city, highlighting the “unbeatable” energy and the memorable nature of the gig. Drummer Rahul Yadav added that the Friday Jam audience was “open and welcoming,” a sentiment that fuels emerging artists. The band’s ability to connect with attendees, even leaving them calling for an encore, showcased the local talent that the festival aims to spotlight.

A Decade of HT City Friday Jam: A Cultural Catalyst

Now in its milestone 10th edition, the HT City Friday Jam, presented by Cantabil, has evolved into a significant fixture in the Delhi-NCR cultural calendar. Originating as a campaign by Lowe Lintas, the festival’s objective was to transform the HT City newspaper supplement into a dynamic lifestyle brand and an interactive platform for community engagement and youth culture. DLF CyberHub, with its high visibility and consistent footfall, has served as the ideal venue for this transformation, establishing Friday nights as a weekly ritual for music lovers. Past seasons have featured a diverse array of acclaimed artists, solidifying its reputation for delivering high-quality live music experiences.

A Star-Studded Season Ahead and Key Partnerships

Following Lashcurry’s electrifying opening, the HT City Friday Jam Season 10 promises more musical diversity throughout September. The upcoming lineup includes performances by pop-rock artist Naalayak, the electronic duo Tech Panda x Kenzani, and the iconic rock band Indian Ocean, ensuring a broad spectrum of music for attendees. The festival is proudly presented by Cantabil, with Monkey Shoulder serving as a key festival partner. Associate partners Zappfresh and Instax, along with health partner Paras Health, also contribute to the event’s successful execution. This collaboration of brands underscores the festival’s reach and appeal within the entertainment and lifestyle sectors.

Connecting Through Music Despite the Weather

The event’s success on a rain-soaked evening highlighted its role as a much-needed cultural uplift for the region. Attendees, some of whom braved long commutes from neighboring cities like Noida, found the experience to be well worth the journey, citing the music, crowd, and overall vibe as exceptionally positive. The HT City Friday Jam continues to foster a sense of community and shared experience, demonstrating the enduring power of live music to connect people and energize urban landscapes. As the festival progresses, it remains a testament to the thriving music scene in Gurugram and the broader Delhi-NCR region, celebrating both established artists and emerging talents in the hip-hop and broader music genres.
