Afro Nation Portugal has unveiled an electrifying lineup for its 2026 festival, with global superstars Tyla, Wizkid, and Asake confirmed as the headline acts. The highly anticipated music festival will return to the stunning Praia da Rocha Beach in Portimão, The Algarve, from July 3 to July 5, 2026. This announcement solidifies Afro Nation’s status as a premier destination for African and global Black music, promising an unforgettable celebration of culture and sound.
A Stellar Headliner Trio
Leading the charge for Afro Nation Portugal 2026 are three of the most influential artists in contemporary music. Nigerian Afrobeats titan Wizkid, known for his chart-topping hits and smooth vocal performances, returns to the festival stage. Alongside him is fellow Nigerian superstar Asake, whose unique fusion of street-hop and Afrobeat rhythms has garnered a massive global following. Rounding out the headliners is South African sensation Tyla, a Grammy-winning artist who has experienced a meteoric rise since her breakout success. Tyla previously graced the Afro Nation Portugal stage in 2024, but this marks her highly anticipated headline debut.
Expanding Horizons with New Stages and Special Guests
Adding to the festival’s diverse offerings, American rapper Gunna will make his Afro Nation debut as a special guest. Gunna has notable collaborations with all three headliners, further bridging genres and connecting global music scenes. The lineup also features a robust roster of additional artists, including Mariah the Scientist, Niska, Olamide, Awilo Longomba, Bien, Darkoo, Denden, Djodje, and Young Jonn, ensuring a wide spectrum of sounds on the main LIT Stage.
A significant development for the 2026 edition is the introduction of the Afrotronic Stage, a new platform dedicated to showcasing the evolving electronic sounds within African music, such as Afro-house and Afro-tech. Complementing this, the festival will continue its tradition of celebrating amapiano with a dedicated Piano People stage, featuring performances by Madumane, Focalistic, Amaroto, Daliwonga, Lee McKrazy, Mawhoo, Mellow & Sleazy, and Zee Nxumalo.
Afro Nation: A Global Cultural Phenomenon
Founded in 2019, Afro Nation has rapidly established itself as a pivotal celebration of African and global Black music. The festival is renowned for its vibrant atmosphere, uniting an international audience estimated to be around 40,000 attendees for its Portugal edition. It serves as a crucial platform for both established and emerging artists, fostering cultural exchange and celebrating the dynamism of genres including Afrobeats, Amapiano, R&B, hip hop, and dancehall. The choice of Praia da Rocha Beach in Portimão provides a picturesque backdrop, enhancing the festival’s reputation as a premier summer music destination.
The 2026 festival promises to build upon its legacy, offering a comprehensive showcase of contemporary African music and its global influence, making it a must-attend event for music lovers worldwide.
