The 23rd Korean Music Awards nominations have arrived. The announcement came on February 5, 2026. These awards celebrate musical achievement. They are not based solely on sales. A panel of music critics makes the selections. This year’s nominations highlight artistic risk. They also honor cross-genre excellence. Hyperpop artist Effie leads all nominees. She secured six nominations. NMIXX, BLACKPINK’s Jennie, and Lee Chanhyuk each received five nods. The nominations span many music genres. Categories include electronic, hip-hop, K-pop, and pop.

Effie Leads Nominations

Effie is this year’s most recognized artist. She earned six nominations. These cover electronic song/album and rap & hip-hop song/album categories. She is also up for Artist of the Year and Album of the Year. Her EP, ‘pullup to busan 4 morE hypEr summEr it’s gonna bE a fuckin moviE,’ received praise. This EP blends hip-hop sounds with other styles. Effie’s work is also nominated for Album of the Year.

K-Pop Stars Shine

K-pop artists feature prominently in the nominations. NMIXX earned five nominations. The group received multiple nods for Best K-Pop Album. They are nominated for both ‘Fe3O4: FORWARD’ and ‘Blue Valentine’. NMIXX makes history. They are the first act with two albums nominated in the K-pop category. Their song ‘Blue Valentine’ also vies for Song of the Year.

BLACKPINK’s Jennie secured five nominations. Her solo work gained significant attention. Jennie is nominated for Musician of the Year. Her track ‘Like Jennie’ competes for Song of the Year and Best K-pop Song. Additionally, her debut solo album ‘Ruby’ is nominated for Album of the Year and Best K-pop Album.

Lee Chanhyuk’s Acclaim

AKMU member Lee Chanhyuk also earned five nominations. He is recognized for his solo efforts. Chanhyuk is nominated for Musician of the Year. His song ‘Endangered Love’ is up for Song of the Year and Best K-pop Song. His album ‘EROS’ is nominated for Album of the Year and Best Pop Album.

Key Categories and Themes

There are 26 categories across three main fields for the Korean Music Awards. Genre awards include Best Rap & Hip Hop, Best Electronic, Best Pop, and Best K-Pop. The awards prioritize artistic merit and innovation. This year’s theme of ‘artistic risk and cross-genre excellence’ is clear in the nominees.

Other notable nominees include LE SSERAFIM’s ‘SPAGHETTI’ and ALLDAY PROJECT’s ‘FAMOUS’ for Best K-Pop Song. Rookie of the Year nominees include ALLDAY PROJECT and Woo Hee-joon. The Kakao Creative Foundation is a partner for the ceremony. This partnership supports cultural creators. The 23rd Korean Music Awards ceremony airs live on February 26. You can watch on the Melon app, YouTube, and the Korean Music Awards YouTube channel. Songgolmae will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Looking Ahead

The 23rd Korean Music Awards promise a vibrant celebration of diverse musical talent. The nominations reflect a strong appreciation for experimental sounds and genre blending. Effie’s six nominations highlight the rise of hyperpop and its fusions. Meanwhile, artists like Jennie and Lee Chanhyuk continue to innovate. NMIXX’s multiple album nominations show their significant impact on K-pop. This year’s awards will honor music that pushes boundaries and excites listeners.
