Jadakiss and Beanie Sigel End Decades-Long Feud, Announce Collaborative Album ‘Kiss The Mac’

Kendra BanksKendra BanksAugust 25, 20253 Minutes read

In a monumental shift for the hip-hop landscape, veteran MCs Jadakiss and Beanie Sigel have officially announced an end to their long-standing rivalry, signaling a new era of collaboration with their forthcoming album, “Kiss The Mac.” The project, executive produced by fellow Philadelphia rapper Freeway, is slated for release in 2025, promising a lyrical showcase from two artists who once defined intense competition.

A Storied Rivalry Rekindled

The announcement comes as a surprise and a delight to fans who remember the iconic beef between Jadakiss and Beanie Sigel in the early 2000s. This legendary feud, which began around 2001, saw both artists trade sharp disses and intricate verses, etching their lyrical battles into hip-hop history. The origins of the conflict are often traced back to perceived subliminal shots from Jay-Z aimed at Jadakiss on the remix of R. Kelly’s “Fiesta.” This led to escalating tensions between Roc-A-Fella Records and Jadakiss’s group, The LOX, culminating in a fiery freestyle from Beanie Sigel’s crew, State Property, targeting Jadakiss and his affiliates in 2002. At the height of the beef, reports suggest the animosity nearly spilled into physical confrontations, with Jadakiss allegedly considering bringing a firearm to Hot 97 to address the situation. Despite the intensity, the rivalry largely remained confined to wax, producing some of the most memorable back-and-forths in rap music.

From Adversaries to Allies

Decades after their lyrical warfare, Jadakiss and Beanie Sigel are not only setting aside their differences but are actively uniting their creative forces. The news was confirmed through a social media video featuring the two artists alongside Freeway, where Jadakiss stated, “We letting it out the bag. It’s coming, it’s coming. We’ll see you real soon. We about to f*ck the world up.” Freeway’s involvement as executive producer, along with the inclusion of both The LOX and State Property on the album, further emphasizes the theme of unity and reconciliation. This collaboration highlights a recurring narrative in hip-hop where former rivals come together to create something impactful for the culture.

‘Kiss The Mac’: What to Expect

The album title, “Kiss The Mac,” has generated significant buzz, with fans eagerly anticipating the lyrical chemistry between Jadakiss, known for his precise flow and razor-sharp punchlines, and Beanie Sigel, celebrated for his raw storytelling and gritty authenticity. The project marks Jadakiss’s first full-length effort since his 2020 album “Ignatius” and Beanie Sigel’s first since 2012’s “This Time.” Adding another layer of innovation to the project, Beanie Sigel has revealed he is exploring artificial intelligence to help restore his voice. Following a vocal cord injury in 2014, Sigel has been experimenting with AI technology, expressing optimism that it can help him recapture the distinctive sound that defined his earlier work, stating, “I think I found a good friend with this AI thing… Y’all want, what they say, the ‘old Beans’ back? ‘Cause the pen’s still there.” This fusion of seasoned lyricism with modern technological advancements promises a unique listening experience.

The Significance of the Collaboration

The reunion of Jadakiss and Beanie Sigel is more than just a musical project; it’s a testament to the evolution of artists and the enduring power of hip-hop to foster growth and understanding. Their journey from fierce competitors to collaborators underscores the idea that creative energy can be channeled into something positive and unifying. Fans have expressed overwhelming excitement, with many noting how this is an unexpected but welcome development that they never thought they’d witness. The collaboration is poised to be a significant release, celebrated for its historical context and the artistic prowess of two of hip-hop’s most respected figures. As Freeway alluded, “Since they made so many billions off us, now we making billions off ourselves,” signaling a new chapter where these artists are firmly in control of their legacies and creative output.
