Music World Buzzes: J.I.D Announces Global Tour, Hip Hop Icons Raekwon & Mobb Deep Embark on Anniversary Trek, Cardi B Drops New Single, and More Top Stories

Alfonso BellajoAlfonso BellajoAugust 19, 20254 Minutes read

New York, NY – August 19, 2025 – The music industry was alive with major announcements and releases today, painting a vibrant picture of the current landscape and future of popular music. From expansive global tours to significant album news and fresh single drops, August 19, 2025, proved to be a momentous day for artists and fans alike across various genres.

J.I.D Ignites Global Stage with “God Does Like World Tours”

Rapper J.I.D, riding high on the success of his latest album “God Does Like Ugly,” has officially announced an extensive world tour, aptly named “God Does Like World Tours.” This ambitious global trek is set to span from October 2025 through May 2026, covering North America, Europe/UK, and Australia/New Zealand. The tour, which boasts nearly 70 dates, will feature support from fellow artists Young Nudy on US dates, Mick Jenkins for the European leg, and Jordan Ward in Australia and New Zealand. Fans eager to secure tickets can look forward to presales beginning as early as August 20th, with general public sales commencing on August 26th. This tour marks J.I.D’s most significant international run to date, underscoring his growing global influence in the hip hop scene.

Hip Hop Legends Raekwon & Mobb Deep Celebrate 30 Years with Co-Headlining Tour

In a highly anticipated move for hip hop aficionados, rap titans Raekwon (of Wu-Tang Clan) and Mobb Deep have announced a special co-headlining tour to commemorate the 30th anniversary of their seminal albums, “Only Built 4 Cuban Linx…” and “The Infamous,” respectively. The “30th Anniversary Tour” is slated to kick off on November 13, 2025, in Portland, Oregon, and will traverse across North America, concluding on December 15, 2025, in Miami Beach, Florida. This unique collaboration will see both artists performing their classic hits together in a single set, promising a powerful homage to a golden era of hip hop. Tickets for the tour, which includes stops in major cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, are set to go on sale August 15th following various presales.

Cardi B Drops Fiery New Single “Imaginary Playerz” Ahead of Sophomore Album

Global superstar Cardi B has once again captured the attention of the music world with the release of her new single, “Imaginary Playerz.” This track serves as the second preview from her highly anticipated sophomore album, “Am I The Drama?”, scheduled for release on September 19, 2025. “Imaginary Playerz” notably samples Jay-Z’s 1997 classic “Imaginary Players,” with the sample reportedly receiving approval from Hov himself. The single, produced by DJ SwanQo, Sean Island, and OctaneThisThatGas, arrives with a companion music video, further fueling excitement for the album. “Imaginary Playerz” follows her earlier single “Outside,” which debuted strong on the Billboard charts, positioning Cardi B for a significant return to the album cycle that began with her acclaimed 2018 debut, “Invasion Of Privacy.”

Ghostface Killah Unleashes “Metaphysics” and Builds Hype for “Supreme Clientele 2”

Another titan of the hip hop genre, Ghostface Killah, has released “Metaphysics,” a potent new single that serves as a tantalizing appetizer for his forthcoming album, “Supreme Clientele 2.” The album, slated for an August 22, 2025 release, is the eagerly awaited sequel to one of hip hop’s most beloved and influential albums. “Metaphysics,” a track reportedly recorded in 2003 and saved for this moment, showcases Ghostface’s signature lyrical prowess and abstract metaphors over a classic breakbeat. Both the single and the impending album are part of Mass Appeal’s “Legend Has It” campaign, celebrating iconic artists and their new music.

Electronic Pioneer Aphex Twin Announces Expanded “Polygon Window” Reissue

In the realm of electronic music, Aphex Twin is set to reissue his sole album under the Polygon Window alias, “Surfing on Sine Waves.” The expanded edition, due September 26, 2025, via Warp Records, will feature the original 1993 LP along with three bonus tracks from the “Quoth” EP. This release revisits a key work from the early days of IDM and Warp’s influential “Artificial Intelligence” series. The reissue will be available in multiple formats, including vinyl, CD, and cassette, offering fans a chance to experience this landmark electronic music project with added depth.

Florence + The Machine Set to “Everybody Scream” with New Album and Tour

Florence + The Machine have officially announced their sixth studio album, “Everybody Scream,” scheduled for release on Halloween, October 31, 2025. The album, which follows their 2022 hit “Dance Fever,” is accompanied by the release of its title track. To support the new record, the band has also unveiled plans for an extensive UK and European tour kicking off in February 2026. The announcement signals a highly anticipated return for Florence Welch and her band, exploring themes of womanhood, partnership, and mortality, inspired by personal experiences. The tour will include stops in major cities across the UK and Europe, with presales for tickets beginning September 3rd.

A Diverse Month for Music

These top stories represent just a fraction of the dynamic activity within the music industry this August 2025. From the ambitious touring plans of J.I.D and the nostalgic celebrations of Raekwon and Mobb Deep, to the contemporary dominance of Cardi B, the enduring legacy of Ghostface Killah, and the forward-thinking electronic releases from Aphex Twin and Florence + The Machine, the month is proving to be a powerhouse for new music and exciting announcements. These developments underscore the continued innovation and enduring appeal of music across all its forms, promising a thrilling period ahead for fans and artists alike.
