Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Begins Four-Year Sentence for Prostitution Crimes at Fort Dix Federal Prison

Aisha MaxwellAisha MaxwellNovember 3, 20255 Minutes read

Hip-hop mogul Sean Diddy Combs has been transferred to the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Fort Dix in New Jersey to begin serving a four-year, two-month sentence for transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution crimes. The move marks a significant turn for the music artist, whose personal life has been under intense scrutiny following a high-profile Diddy criminal trial.

Sean Diddy Combs: Conviction and Sentencing Details

Combs was convicted on July 2, 2025, by a federal jury on two counts of violating the Mann Act, which prohibits the transportation of any person across state lines for the purpose of prostitution or other immoral activities. He was acquitted of more serious charges, including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, which had carried potential life sentences. The conviction of Sean Diddy Combs has sent shockwaves through the entertainment world.

On October 3, 2025, U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian sentenced the 55-year-old Combs to 50 months in federal prison, equivalent to four years and two months. He was also ordered to pay a $500,000 fine and will serve five years of supervised release upon his eventual release. The judge emphasized the need for accountability and deterrence, stating that “exploitation and violence against women must be met with real accountability to promote respect for the law”. This federal prison sentence for Sean Diddy Combs underscores the severity of the charges.

Combs has been in federal custody since his arrest on September 16, 2024, and has received credit for approximately 12 to 14 months already served. His projected release date is May 8, 2028, though this could be adjusted based on good behavior and participation in rehabilitative programs. The legal proceedings against Sean Diddy Combs have been closely watched.

Transfer to Fort Dix: Sean Diddy Combs’ New Location

The hip-hop artist was transferred from the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, New York, to FCI Fort Dix on or around October 30 or 31, 2025. This transfer was facilitated at the request of Combs’ legal team. In filings submitted to the court, his attorneys cited a desire for Combs to “address drug abuse issues and to maximize family visitation and rehabilitative efforts”. They specifically requested placement at Fort Dix due to its known drug treatment programs, including the Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP). The move to Fort Dix Federal Prison was part of the ongoing legal process for Sean Diddy Combs.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) records confirmed the transfer, which was also noted in the federal register. The facility’s location, roughly 80 miles south of New York City, was also a factor in the request, aiming to keep him closer to the New York metropolitan area. This placement at Fort Dix Federal Prison is a significant development in the Sean Diddy Combs legal saga.

Fort Dix: A Low-Security Facility for Sean Diddy Combs

FCI Fort Dix, officially the Federal Correctional Institution, Fort Dix, is a low-security federal prison located on the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in Burlington County, New Jersey. It is one of the largest federal correctional institutions in the United States, housing male offenders. The facility includes a minimum-security satellite camp. Sean Diddy Combs will be housed within this facility.

Fort Dix is known for offering various rehabilitative services, including educational programs, vocational training, and substance abuse treatment programs like RDAP. Historically, the prison has housed several notable inmates, including “Pharma Bro” Martin Shkreli and former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. The low-security classification means inmates typically pose less of a risk and often have a history of good behavior within the correctional system. The conditions at Fort Dix Federal Prison are being closely scrutinized in light of Sean Diddy Combs’ arrival.

Background to the Charges Against Sean Diddy Combs

The conviction and sentencing of Sean Diddy Combs, a towering figure in the music industry, follow a tumultuous period marked by numerous allegations. Beginning in late 2023, Combs faced a series of civil lawsuits from former partners and associates accusing him of sexual assault, abuse, and exploitation. Casandra “Cassie” Ventura’s lawsuit, filed in November 2023, detailed allegations of rape, prostitution crimes, and physical abuse, which was settled out of court the following day.

These civil actions were followed by a federal investigation. In September 2024, Combs was arrested and charged with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution. The extensive trial, which spanned several weeks, brought to light graphic details of alleged misconduct. Prosecutors presented evidence of Combs using his wealth and influence to coerce women into sexual activity, sometimes involving hired male prostitutes. The details surrounding the prostitution crimes were central to the Diddy criminal trial.

Combs has consistently denied all allegations and pleaded not guilty to the federal criminal charges. His legal team has maintained that his actions, while potentially problematic in his personal relationships, did not constitute the criminal offenses charged. The accusations leading to the Sean Diddy Combs sentencing have been highly publicized.

Appeal and Future Considerations for Sean Diddy Combs

Despite his transfer to Fort Dix, Combs’ legal battle is not over. His attorneys have filed a notice of appeal for both his conviction and sentence. They are expected to argue that the evidence presented was insufficient or improperly applied, particularly concerning the Mann Act conviction and the nature of consensual relationships. The appeal process is a crucial next step for Sean Diddy Combs.

Combs’ supporters have pointed to his remorse expressed in court, where he apologized to his family and victims, acknowledging his actions as “disgusting, shameful and sick”. The appeal process could potentially lead to a reversal of his conviction or a modification of his sentence. The news of this music mogul jailed continues to be a significant topic in entertainment and legal news. The fate of Sean Diddy Combs rests partly on the outcome of this appeal.

The journey from a celebrated hip-hop artist and entrepreneur to a federal inmate serving time for prostitution-related crimes represents a dramatic fall from grace for Sean Diddy Combs, a development that continues to captivate public attention. The Mann Act conviction has profoundly altered the trajectory of the renowned music mogul.
