Dave Blunts Unleashes “Hey Curtis”: A Ruthless Diss Track Ignites New Hip-Hop Beef with 50 Cent

Vik MehtaVik MehtaAugust 23, 20253 Minutes read

In a move that has sent shockwaves through the hip-hop music community, emerging artist Dave Blunts has officially dropped a scathing diss track targeting rap mogul 50 Cent, titled “Hey Curtis.” Released on August 23, 2025, the track is a no-holds-barred attack on 50 Cent’s character, career, and personal life, stemming from a recent online spat that has escalated into one of the most talked-about rap feuds of the year.

The Spark: Diddy Trial Comments Escalate to Direct Confrontation

The roots of this unexpected rivalry trace back to 50 Cent’s public commentary on Kanye West’s attendance at the ongoing federal sex trafficking trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs. 50 Cent took to social media platform Instagram to criticize West, which prompted Dave Blunts, a known collaborator and supporter of West, to clap back. This defense of his fellow artist quickly drew the attention of 50 Cent, who then directly addressed Blunts, posting a threatening message about pushing him down the stairs. Blunts did not back down, initially firing back on social media by mocking 50 Cent’s 2011 film “All Things Fall Apart” and criticizing his weight loss for the project.

“Hey Curtis”: A Lyrical and Personal Attack

“Hey Curtis” marks a significant escalation, delving deep into personal accusations and critiques. The track, whose title is a direct reference to 50 Cent’s legal name, Curtis Jackson, doesn’t shy away from sensitive topics. Blunts alleges that 50 Cent has an obsession with Diddy, suggesting it stems from jealousy or animosity. He also brings up allegations concerning 50 Cent’s ex-partner, Daphne Joy, and her alleged connections to Combs, referencing accusations made during the Diddy trial proceedings and past social media disputes between 50 Cent and Joy.

Lyrically, Blunts positions 50 Cent as an “actor” who “doesn’t really want no drama,” directly challenging the rapper’s hard-earned gangster persona. The song includes pointed lines that mock 50 Cent’s appearance, his business ventures, and even touches on rumors about his sexuality. The track’s release has been described as “ridiculous and salacious,” aiming to dismantle the long-standing image of the G-Unit mogul.

Visual Barrage: A “In Da Club” Parody

Complementing the aggressive lyrical content, the music video for “Hey Curtis” is a satirical parody of 50 Cent’s iconic 2003 hit, “In Da Club.” The visuals cleverly recreate scenes from the original video, featuring Blunts in workout scenarios alongside nurses, serving as a direct homage and mockery on 50 Cent’s own turf. This creative choice amplifies the diss track’s intent, using 50 Cent’s own celebrated imagery against him.

Dave Blunts: The Unlikely Challenger on the Hip-Hop Scene

Dave Blunts, born Davion Blessing, is an American rapper and singer who gained significant traction in late 2024 through viral content on TikTok, often featuring him performing with an oxygen tank, which raised concerns about his health but also garnered him a unique online persona. He has released several albums, including “Well Dude Here’s My Thing” and “You Can’t Say That,” and has even been credited as a songwriter for some of Kanye West’s recent work. Blunts’ artistic style is often characterized by “out-of-pocket” and provocative lyrics, making him a bold, albeit unexpected, figure to engage in a high-profile rap beef.

50 Cent’s Legacy of Controversy

50 Cent, a seasoned veteran of the hip-hop world, has a storied career marked by numerous public feuds and controversies. From his long-standing beef with Ja Rule to clashes with artists like The Game and Rick Ross, 50 Cent is no stranger to rap battles and online trolling. His involvement in commenting on the Diddy trial, including jabs at Kanye West, has been a consistent theme in recent hip-hop stories. This history provides a backdrop for how Blunts’ diss track might be perceived within the industry, especially given 50 Cent’s reputation for retaliating.

Industry Buzz and Anticipation of a Response

The release of “Hey Curtis” has divided opinion among fans, with some applauding Blunts’ audacity and creativity, while others view it as a strategic attempt to gain clout. As of now, 50 Cent has not issued a direct musical or social media response to the diss track. However, given his history, many in the hip-hop community are anticipating a comeback, speculating on how the veteran mogul will react to such a personal and public attack. The outcome of this beef remains to be seen, but Dave Blunts has undoubtedly inserted himself into the top tier of current hip-hop narratives, creating an intriguing storyline for fans to follow.
